Delivering Cutting-Edge Communications in Kansas Since 1950

switchboardFor 64 years, we’ve been “the phone company” in La Harpe, Kansas. Times are changing, and so are we! La Harpe Telephone Company started life with a switchboard and an operator. The operator, Miss Joyce Hay, soon became Mrs. Harry Lee, and the couple raised their family in La Harpe, and the family still operates the company today. In 1990, cellular telephones came along, and La Harpe Telephone was one of the owners of Kansas Cellular, sold in 1999 to Alltel. Today, we’re one of the 29 owners of Kansas Fiber Network, a communication system that delivers leading edge broadband connectivity to rural Kansas. gas tower logo

We invested in fiber-to-the-home for all of La Harpe, and with our purchase of the former AT&T Microwave Tower in Gas City, we began building out a network of towers in southeast Kansas that will bring fast, fixed-wireless internet connections to the 17 underserved (and sometimes unserved) counties here. La Harpe Communications, the well-financed sister firm to the telephone company, is backed by the largest and most up-to-date telecommunications engineering team in the Midwest. We look forward to being of service to you! Please contact me with any questions or comments.
